Speaking of mess ....!

Yes, I repeat myself, I’m sometimes a mess head. But in my defense, a major refactor is a magjor refactor :)

Last week I released a brand new major release of my pikobeats firmware for scarp. The beat box thingy. You know.

It featured 4 new kits of 32 samples each in 16bit 44kHz quality. That’s an upgrade ;) I finally implemented settings storage (duh!).

I reworked the arrangment of samples to make it a bit more intuitive to select a sample, limiting each channel to one of 4 in the same ‘family’ of samples.

I was thinking, it’s sounding great!

All in all, a more usable machine … but for one sour grape.

I managed to disable sync input. Well. I commented out the functionality. Sigh. Ok, the sample above is with functional sync. I neglected to make a recording of the broken bastard.

Sigh.

Luckily a poetaster protege (ah, well, did me the honour of using my designs) spotted it: https://www.reddit.com/r/synthdiy/search/?q=poetaster and sent me a mail. Then I tortured them with updates. Till it worked ;)

Yeah, I can’t log in there on reddit, either. Who knows? I think I had the 103rd account. But that is very, very long ago.

In any case, I fixed it ;) So scarp pikobeats is great :) I still use it mainly with Teenage Engineering POs (tonic, mostly) but I was playing for FreaqFM and the volca modular too,

Fun. New firmware is up on https://poetaster.org/scarp/scarp-start/

Oh. i haven’t finished the docs yet … (ducks’n’runs) …..
